Capital Regional District (CRD)

The Capital Regional District (CRD) was incorporated in 1966 as an order of government to provide regional decision-making, shared local government services and local decision-making in rural areas. The CRD's jurisdiction is the Southern tip of Vancouver Island and the surrounding 70 Gulf Islands. As a corporate entity the CRD is governed by a Board of Directors, made up of elected municipal and electoral area representatives from 13 municipalities and three electoral (unincorporated) areas. The CRD’s administration is overseen by a Chief Administrative Officer and an Executive Leadership Team that are appointed by the Board as officers of the corporation.
