Gorge Waterway Nature House
The Gorge Waterway Nature House, located in Esquimalt Gorge Park, is the perfect place to explore your local aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. This area is culturally, historically, and biologically significant and includes access to a beach, an urban forest, and a restored creek. The Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations traditionally used this area for food, medicine, and spiritual practice. The region was also historically popular for regattas and swimming, and is home to a great diversity of aquatic animals and birds.

Book a program!! With such close proximity to schools, daycares, community centers and residents, the Gorge Waterway Nature House provides easy access for field trip programs and learning opportunities for thousands of visitors every year. The field trip programs feature an interactive demonstration using our 3D watershed model, a Seaquaria touch tank stocked with local marine species, a guided Nature Walk along the Gorge Creek, and a station focused on water quality monitoring in the Gorge. The aim of these programs is to help individuals connect classroom learning with nature and real world issues in their own community, and to foster an ethic of life-long learning.
